installing *deb files namely gputils and gpsim

Asked by Bryan

Hi after many attempts I've finally got a 56K modem connected to the net after my isdn refused to work. Now I've downloaded gputils and gpsim but ubuntu 6.06 refuses to let them install saying some dependencies refuse to satisfy namely libc6 ans tzdata. i downloaded those files seperately and tried to install them and still had the same problem. Am i missing some *.deb install files or are these programs not compatible with ubuntu.

Cheers Bryan

You have to make sure that all dependencies are satisfied if you want to be sure. Otherwise, you can use the option force-depends with dpkg during the install and dependency problems will be only warnings.
However, the software installed might not work correctly or not at all.

Can you help with this problem?
