How to connect to a local network?

I`m new to Linux, and installed Linux mint on my laptop. At home I have a local network with a network printer. I don`t find how to connect to my local network, I also have a netwok server. Can anybody help me?

Although based on Ubuntu, Mint is not Ubuntu, try asking your question over at the Mint forums http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/
