will Ubuntu run on a RISC chip on HP 9000

I have a HP 9000 it has Unix on it now. I would like to use Ubuntu on the macine. It has a RISC chip processor. Has anyone ever done or heard of anyone doing it?

I think you mean 'RISC chip' ... and there is a cdimage for ubuntu server to do just that:

For Server:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ports/releases/hardy/release/ubuntu-8.04.1-server-hppa.iso

For alternate install:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ports/releases/hardy/release/ubuntu-8.04.1-alternate-hppa.iso

That should work

What exactly are you trying to setup? Since it's a HP 9000, i will assume you're not going for a desktop install, but rather a server.

What sort of server are you installing? What kind of disk do you have, etc?

Basically, you should be able to burn the cd, and boot off it. From there, the install picks default values that should work, unless you need to customize them
