Software centre cannot authenticate Ubuntu one credentials

While installing nonfree software, Software centre cannot authenticate Ubuntu one credentials but web login works fine.

If you run:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Does the OS upgrade OK?

You won't get any feedback as you type your password but it is being accepted

I ran the commands and update went fine but its still the same issue.

Found it is reported as a bug dated 2016-08-25:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1616943

I have Ubuntu 16.10 and see that its been reported for a long time.

OK, please link the question to the bug and mark as resolved as there is a bug report for the issue.

You could sidestep the problem by using Synaptic.

sudo apt-get install synaptic
