Dell Inspiron not giving correct screen resolution ratio.

Asked by Otgar

My Dell Inspiron 640m is only giving me 1024x768 resolution and other regular aspect ratios, but I need widescreen resolution, as at the moment everything looks fat.

I've tried to install resolution915 using synaptic, but can't find it even though it claims to be installed.

Help! I'm new!

Mango, Would you please consider opening your own support request as it gets very confusing having more then one problem per support request. You can easily follow the link below and start your own personal support request.

Thanks all for your help,

perhaps I should search a little more intrepidly in future before firing off a plea for help. In any case, the FixVideoResolutionHowto version was the easiest method.

Cheers.
