How can I disable APMD without loosing gnome desktop

Asked by BC7333

I believe I am having some problem with my lid switch kicking in on vibrations and would like to disable it. Gnome power manager shows 'Do nothing' when lid closed so would like to get to a deeper level to really disable it.

I would just like to get rid of gnome power management to see if the situation improves but if I try to do this with Synaptic it tells me that gnome desktop will be removed also..

Thanks

You could merely disable the APMD instead of removing it. Go to System -> Administration -> Services and disable the apmd daemon

Hope it helps
