I'm sure you can do in linux whatever those programs do - just with a different program. Look in Applications - Add/Remove for a full selection of software you can install with a click.

I am not computer savvy. I thank you for trying to help me though.
I have no idea what application or software to select.

As Yeshara stated above, most likely there are equivalent programmes in Linux. You would have to say which programmes you want so that we can help you in your selection.

I have only ever come across two programmes that did not have an equivalent in Linux and I run these in Crossover (which is associated with Wine). Crossover lets programmes written for Windows run in Linux.

Thanks, Andre. I am trying to download some from a website. But in order to do this I need to download PCstitch, but it asks for a platform of Windows or Mac, so maybe I cant' download from the site?

I have checked the Codeweaver Crossover site. Although a request has been lodged to make PCStitch run in Crossover, this has as yet not been accomplished.

If you type "cross stitch for linux" into the search bar of your browser you will find quite a few results.

I would let PCStitch know of your disappointment at not being able to use their software. As a business, it is their loss.

Here's a list of cross stitching programs on sourceforge.net. Perhaps one of these both runs on linux, and suits your needs.

Yeshara, I am not interested in a cross stitch program, I simply want to download some free patterns from a site and I have to have PCStitch. This website lets you download PCStitch free, but that's where I am stuck.
I do not know how to get it to run in Linux.

Thanks so much for your help. If you think of anything else let me know.

Yeshara, I saw where someone downloaded PCStitch using wine. Could you lead me through it?

Thanks Nancy

I'm not a wine user, but

sudo aptitude install wine

There's a wine app database on the wine homepage - lists compatability with current apps and any tweaks they may have used.

Can you help with this problem?
