software update for digital SLR: cannon 300D

i have a digital cannon SLR 300D
i also have a disk of software for it, so that it will enable me to get updates online for it
however it is not working on this op syst... (Ubuntu 8.04)
is there anything that i can do to solve this, i tried wine, which didnt work (although i might have got it wrong)
any help on this would be great

What kind of update for your camera do you want? If you want a firmware update for the camera go to this website:

All necessary steps are explained there.

All the other updates (at least for my 350D) on the CD is just for the Windows software bundled with the camera like image viewer or image editing software. It should be possible to get this software to work with wine, but there are IMO better solutions like GIMP for editing.
