Is the wireless card detected in network manager? If not paste the
output of the "sudo lshw" command here.

Sean:

Paste the results of performing "lspci" at the terminal.

From my reading this requires the use of a 'restricted driver'

You can access that from the System Menu on the top panel... then Administration and finally Hardware Drivers. You will be prompted for your password and then if the card has a restricted driver you should see it in the list. If it is there simply check the box in the enabled column. The driver will be downloaded and installed and should work on reboot.

If that does not work you can try these instructions from Feisty"

Hi
thanks to you I have made some progress!

my password for local internet provider is now showing in the network manager box and when I enable it the icon moves around and only one circle lights up and shortly I am asked for passphrase and putting in a passphrase nothing happens without nothing happening icon just keeps swirling around.. I humbly look to you for help....in feisty instructions I followed 2a instructions in terminal and after password it showed up as being saved.

do you know for sure its a pass phrase? Do you know if it is 64bit, 128bit, WPA, WPA2, WEP? Do you know if it is an open or a shared key? Those answers need to be correct for things to work.
