using firefox 3.0.1, why can i NOT sort my bookmarks?

Define "why can i not sort my bookmarks?".

Open the bookmark manager, right click on a folder and select "sort by name" or drag and drop them in the correct order.

Yes I assume that. Check the other questions people ask and you'd be surprised how often the most basic things are overlooked.

Since it still doesn't work I suggest you convert this answer into a bug report using the 'Create bug report' link in the right menu bar. More people who are involved with Firefox will be able to take a look at it there in stead of the answers section of Launchpad since this is mainly basic support.
