Ubuntu 14.04 (Kernel 4.4) Dash and launcher opacity problem.

Asked by Hey!

Hi.

I have two computers that show the same symptom. Both dash and launcher are opaque even when opacity is set to zero. Live usb or fully installed and updated doesn't make a difference. Both computers have amd gpu's with open source drivers (the one that comes with 14.04).

Ubuntu 14.04 (Kernel 3.13 and 3.19) and 16.04 are working normally. Is just 14.04 with the 4.4 kernel that have this problem.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

All I can suggest is to report a bug. Maybe others can advise

Hi.

Thanks for your reply.

There is a bug open ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1607378 ), but nobody seems to reply. Maybe there isn't a solution without being patched.
