Please boot the computer with the devices connected and then paste the output of:

lspci

Also, can you include the manufacturer and models of the devices you are trying to use.

Thanks

I had same problem on my laptop, though curiously my desktop is fine. Solution was to add
"acpi=noirq pci=noacpi" (without quotes) to end of kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst (edit using sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst in Terminal application). Also, add this to defoptions line so that it holds after kernel upgrade. This is documented in a number of bugs in Launchpad e.g. bug 139209.

Can you help with this problem?
