Improved PPA search

Asked by Devon

I've noticed searching for packages in the PPAs can be quite tedious. Is there a way or plans to specify filters or sort the list based a specific package name, or last updated or the target Ubuntu version? Or maybe there is some other richer interface for searching through the PPAs?
For example I was looking for a recent version of 'gdal' for 16.10 and searching for gdal brings a list of 66 PPAs most of which are old and/or not for my system and others which don't contain that package, only reference it in the description.
Thanks

Use duckduckgo.com and use the !PPA bang

Eg.

!ppa firefox

And you will see the PPAs with Firefox in them.
