You can use nautilus scripts to add that sort of thing

I guess technically you're right.
But then again, there's probably many others things that could be accomplished manually... and I don't see this as a parameter to what Canonical should or should not do -- instead, I guess the benefit to users is the rule of gold.

For instance, I've been trying to add this script for too long with no success.
Make link is a very important task to me on a daily basis, so if I could vote, I would say please bring it back!

You could report a bug. This will let the developers know that the feature has an interest

Good idea actionparsnip, please refer to Bug #1650325.

Both you and fbugnon have been put on the subscriber list for the above bug.

Pasting the comment I added to the bug report (with solution!)

"I appreciate the effort in providing a solution to this problem.

But, as I came to know, the "make link" is not really missing from Nautilus, but just disable by default.

All it takes is getting into Nautilus Preferences > Behavior (tab) and check the box for "Link Creation". After that, "create link" option comes back to contextual menu."

Can you help with this problem?
