Pavilion Tx1000 ISSUES- Webcam, Touchscreen, Wireless and Cardreader not working

Asked by javier begazo

Hello, help needed please

i need to see the exact model of my wireless chipset and I can't find where to do that, that's a big first step, I know
my laptop product number is GD617AV, and the serial number is CNF385QC4,
I'll include a link to the HP website, hopefully it will work
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=3446449&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

I have no idea where to begin, I apologize for being so new, but I really need some help, thanks so much

To find out which WLAN chip your computer has, please give us the output of lspci. To do this, open the Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), write "lspci" without the quotes to the prompt it gives you, press enter and copy and paste the output as an answer to the question.

I suspect it is some Broadcom chip, since mine has one and I have a newer model of the same laptop (tx2000).

Here's a (quite long, unfortunately) discussion about your model: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=442483. You could try asking there and browsing the thread, it has quite a lot of helpful advice.

About the wireless, your lspci doesn't seem to show any wireless controllers, I don't know why. I would suggest asking about this in the thread mentioned above.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask javier begazo for more information if necessary.
