Is there no scope to use Virtualbox? Do you have to use VMware?

By the way, the virtual system will see the connection as wired, not wireless. It will use the resources presented by the host system. If you are wanting to crack wireless connections using a virtual machine then you will either have a lot of work to do or it isn't possible. YouTube may have guides but booting a USB stick will give what you need and easier (if this is the case)

You either won't, or there will be guides on YouTube.

I suggest you boot to a USB stick / CD with a distribution on it on the real hardware. The job will be much easier.

You need to check that your WiFi card can be used in such a way to achieve your goals. Not all cards can.
