Do you have the latest BIOS?
You could try the latest kernel from the mainline PPA

Seems to use that switching GPU nonsense.

Have you installed Nvidia Prime?

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.9-rc4/linux-image-4.9.0-040900rc4-generic_4.9.0-040900rc4.201611052031_amd64.deb

Then install them all at the same time with:

cd ~/Downloads; sudo dpkg -i *.deb

(i assume you'll just click the links and use default options)
