Problems with youtube player

I am having some problems with the youtube player in Mozilla and Chrome. I will play the video and it is very choppy. It does not load very well. Even when video is completely buffered, playback is still choppy.

The main problem seems to be that when I try to pause the video, it keeps playing. It is very strange.

Any ideas what it could be causing this problem?

lsb_release -a; uname -a; dpkg -l | egrep 'flash|gnash|swf|spark'
