CUPS error: 'client-error-bad-request'.

Asked by Merlin Emrys

After successfully installing a network printer, I am trying to share it, but get this error:

    There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-bad-request'.

This problem did not exist until I installed Ubuntu 16.04.

FWIW, I can mark a local printer as shared, but not the network one. I used the ipp protocol for setup.

I can print to the networked printer even though it not shared (it is attached to my computer), but no others on my LAN can print to it.

I have installed samba, and changed /etc/samba/smb.cnf to:

[printers]
   comment = All Printers
   browseable = yes
   path = /var/spool/samba
   printable = yes
   guest ok = yes
   read only = yes
   create mask = 0700

but I still cannot get the share option to work. It gives the error message as above.

I followed the instruction on one of the Ubuntu help pages.
