installing a (netgear 3100) wireless adaper on to ubuntu 14.04 lts

i have a NETGEAR wireless adapter to connect and install on to my Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
the system is not recognizing the adaptor
please help me

What is the output of:

sudo lshw -C network; lsb_release -a; uname -a; lsusb; sudo rfkill list

Seems to use ndiswrapper based on what I'm seeing online. Considering the cheapness of USB WiFi I'd suggest simply buying a new one known to work out of the box with no additional effort required
