16.10 upgrade Nautilus won't start anymore

Asked by nal

I just upgraded to 16.10 and nautilus won't start anymore.
Well, it starts and then closes immediately.

Starting from terminal with sudo nautilus gives that

(nautilus:7122): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to register client: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files

(nautilus:7122): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: <broken file>:1:0: Failed to import: The resource at '/org/gnome/libgd/tagged-entry/default.css' does not exist
**
ERROR:nautilus-canvas-container.c:6032:finish_adding_new_icons: assertion failed: (!container->details->auto_layout)

Thank for the help
I tried rebooting but same things happen. I ran out of disk space while upgrading but it still went on and came with a successful upgrade message. I wonder if something is missing. I tried uninstall and reinstall nautilus but same problem.
I installed another file manager Thunar and that one seems to work but I would prefer staying on nautilus.

Any suggesstions

Thanks again
Nic

Looks fine. All I can suggest is that you report a bug

Found a workaround... did not see consequences...

rename ~/.config/nautilus to nautilus.old

sudo apt-get install nautilus --reinstall

Hi Mafagafo

What were the consequences of your solution? Would you recommend it?
Thanks
