Installing Ubuntu over XP to dual boot

I have XP Media Center Edition already installed on my AMD64 Athlon laptop, and I'd like to install Ubuntu so that I can dual boot between the two OS's on the same hard drive. Is this possible without reinstalling XP?

Yes.. if you have either space on the drive that is not partitioned, or the windows partition has enough free space left, the ubuntu installer can claim the free space or reduce the size of the XP partition and therefore create space for the linux partition.

The dual boot option will be installed automatically.
