The HP 1020 Printer does not work after a fresh installation of Ubuntu 16.04.
Tried the suggestion given by Mark R. in item #10 in question No: 265955 and got the HP P1005 Printer to work.
But the HP 1020 Printer does not work.

any suggestions ?
Thank you.

Try:

cd $HOME
wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/hplip/hplip-3.16.9.run
chmod +x ./hplip-3.16.9.run
./hplip-3.16.9.run

You will be asked for your credentials in the installer.

Does that help?

The above instructions were followed.
The Print Queue shows the print job as "held" , when it is "released" it indicated that it is being printed and the job is complete but it does not print the the print queue again indicates the job as "held".

In view of earlier problems with HPLIP which has to be reinstalled every time the system is upgraded, is there a possibility of installing the "Foomatic" driver which worked flawlessly even after a system upgrade. If not how to get over the present problem with HPLIP.

Any suggestions.
Thank you.
