Is there a way to save c-spann, comedy central or videos than utube videos so I can watch them later?

I'm using ubuntu 8.04, with vlc, and can use the temp file to save utube videos, but haven't found a way to record c-spann or comedy central so I can watch them later when I have more time.

Can this be done?

I've tinkered so much I don't know where to begin to start explaining what I've tried. I've added all the extra codex and repository sources I know about.

Could somebody give this a shot?

I have a way download youtube video's.

All you need it 'youtube-dl'

To install it type this in terminal

sudo apt-get install youtube-dl

Then you just want to type like this in terminal to download youtube-video's.

youtube-dl <youtube-url>

Thus it will download and save that specific youtube video

I use YouPlayer or Ant.com - they are Firefox add-ons. I download the videos to a folder that I've created and voila.
I watch my videos later.
