Print Job with Authentication is postponed until queue is opened

Asked by brandon211

I am connected to a print host requiring authentication. The authentication data is already stored in CUPS. I can issue a new print job and the printer icon in the panel appears, but the job isn't started, until I open the queue of the respective printer.

This problem exists since first day of using the machine in this environment (and thus Ubuntu 15.10).

Have you tried deleting the printer in Ubuntu then powering it off. Reboot the system then log in. Let the system settle then power on the printer.

I forgot to mention that access to the printer is provided through a central CUPS-server. The printer itself is centrally adminstered and used by many people throught the day, I'm afraid I cannot just switch it off.

Do you have a further suggestion or some logs/debug messages I could investigate?
