where has Ubuntu gone

Asked by ken

recently decided to try Ubuntu as a joint install with W10.
I downloaded the files, burnt a disc and installed Ubuntu with very little difficulty.
I played with it for half an hour, but then had to go out, so closed my PC down.
And that is the last I saw of it!
On starting up again all that appeared was W10, and there is no sign of it on the hard disk.
Any idea what I did wrong?
Please bare in mind that I am nearly 73 ,and self taught in using the PC.

Are you sure that you have installed Ubuntu?

When you boot from the installation disk, there is a selection "Try Ubuntu without installing".
If you have made this choice, then there was just a one-off Ubuntu session and Ubuntu was never installed on your hard disk.

Only with the other selection "Install Ubuntu" there are further questions about partitioning the hard disk (Replace the current operating system or install in parallel, or something else...).
Did you get such question?

Yes,I installed in parallel.
I must have done something wrong, when I start up I get a screen with the
alternatives of booting in Windows 10 or Audit PE.
Not sure how I achieved that !
Weather forecast is lousy tomorrow,so I may spend more time and try
installing again,as long as that wouldn't cause more problems
