Chuck,

You have not given enough information, so your question is unfortunately too vague.

You apparently are getting an error message related to the gnome settings daemon. Please post the error message in full

You have not stated when you are getting this error message. Please state when you are getting this message, and what you are doing when you get it.

You state you are shutdown. You have not indicated whether you are shutting your machine down, or if it is being done by the system. If it is shutting down on its own, then what is happening right before it shuts down?

Thanks!

Harvey

The problem has stopped. Whether the problem fix is permanent or temporary remains to be seen. What did I do? Well, I removed firestarter as it was the most recent aplication added. Next, I removed the wireless card, connected ethernet and restarted w/o any problems. I shut down, reinstalled wireless card and rebooted ok. Maybe the wireless card need lubricating so it will run faster.

I hope this is enough information for you to figure out an answer.

The Gnome Settings Daemon problem seems relatively common and I did not see any clear answers on how to fix it and still don't.

Thank you for your reply. This ends this session.
