Canon PiXMA iP4500 Print to CD

Asked by xermán

Hello there,

I just have installed a Canon PiXMA iP4500.

System is Intel Core2Duo E6400, Intel GMA graphics, BTX Asus mobo. running ubuntu 804x86

Printer works fine at 600dpi when printing on paper. Resolution can not be changed.

I can not print directly to CD, though use Openoffice, gLabels, or whatever app. Put the CD on the CD tray and select print to CD from the app, then the tray goes some cm into the printer then goes completely out and no printing process never starts.

Driver is one provided by ubutnu 804x86. It is not the one provided directly by Cannon as does not allow select the Media type on where to print, nor allows select the tray. With driver provided by ubuntu, i can select media type to CD and select the CD tray, but can not print to the CD.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.
Regards.
Xermán

Hi,

i have an iP4500 too but I use it with the Turboprint Driver. Thats not Open-Source but it works much better and with an higher resolution than 600 DPI. You can find them here: http://www.zedonet.com/en_p_turboprint.phtml

Hope that helps you a bit
