Provided Grub was installed, and you do not install Vista on the entirety of the disc, you should be able to use a dual boot method, allowing you to select which OS to boot.

Steven: I would expect that installing Vista anywhere will overwrite grub with the Windows bootloader.
Grub can be re-installed after-the-fact with an Ubuntu CD. It will need some command line jazz, which I don't remember off-hand, but this should be very easy to find with Google.

Yes, Install vista do a separate partition - leaving XP. Then install Ubuntu choosing free space or a partition resizing to your choosing. On boot Ubuntu will give you the option to choose Ubuntu, XP, or Vista. You may want to back up the MBR first - Ubuntu will overwrite it. A fixable problem, but one to be aware of.

hi, ubuntu is already in dual boot with xp.
will it be possible to add vista on the next partition and recover boot loading afterwards- xp/ubuntu /vista or any other? without destroying ubuntu partition

I think to do what you want you'll need to install Vista, and then re-install grub.
