When I try to update I get an error

The error appears after it checks for the updates.
The error is
W: GPG error: http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy-updates Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 40976EAF437D05B5 Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key <email address hidden>
W: GPG error: http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy-proposed Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 40976EAF437D05B5 Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key <email address hidden>
So its not an error with the update-manager its just with the signatures.

I was just wondering if anyone can help me fix it.

It didnt work but I switched which server I was downloading from. That seemed to fix the problem
