Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Server Edition Not Installing

Asked by Jason Field

I downloaded the Server edition and burned the image to a CD... several CDs... with different burners different downloads of the images different computers and they all freeze at 2% of the install. I got the MD5 checker that the site recomended for windows and it checks out... but when i put it in the other computer and run it, it fails. It gives an error that it is corrupt or something of the nature.

Have you tried burning the disc at a slow speed like 4x? This helps prevent write errors, even when the md5sum of the .iso file checks out. Most burning programs give the option to check the disc after it is burned, so that may be a good idea in this case.

Can you help with this problem?
