Number Pad on Mac Keyboard

Asked by Michael Fletcher

I have an Apple USB keyboard. The apple keyboard does not have arrows on the number pad and it does not have a "numlock" button like a PC.

Unfortuately my keyboard is behaving like a PC keyboard and the keypad is mapped to arrow keys.

How do I "numlock" the number pad on my Apple Keyboard?

Quick, terse, and painful ;-)

man loadkeys
man xmodmap

IIRC there exists an option somewhere to enable numlock at boot, as well. You might also want to try the key in the upper left corner of the keyboard (the one with the crossed-out rectangle).

I found that if I click on the Clear button that it is incorrectly associated to the numlock button.

I think I am going to try and create a keymap for my apple keyboard.
