Cannot play MP3, no internet to download plugins

Hi! Newbie here on Ubuntu.

I just installed Ubuntu 8.04 and I cant play mp3, its giving me a link or an option to download the plugin but my system has 56k internal modem and its not working, from what ive read, Ubuntu has very limited support on dial-up modem.

Please do advice on where I could download the plugins using windows platform to install it then on Ubuntu.

The best advice I can give you is to contact a LoCo Team near you, they can give you a APTonCD with the Multimedia Codecs plus other software/updates to install offline on your computer.

Even you can make your APTonCD if you have some friends system running ubuntu with all required packages installed in it.

Try the above link before trying with LOCO team's.
