Ubuntu 8.04 won't run!

Hi guys,
 I just recieved my Ubuntu 8.04 in the mail and i just installed it and my blank second hard drive. It all installed correctly so i restarted my computer and chose the computer to boot up from the hard drive with ubuntu installed on it. It loads up then it get's to the screen where it says Ubuntu and it has a loading bar. then after this screen it comes up to a CMD like progam and i don't know what to do here. I type in "help" and a bunch of commands come up and half of the commands dont do anything. Please help! i really want to try out ubuntu!
