I can't get the password for the wireless connection right

Asked by Melzy

Hello guys!

I just don't get it. Ubuntu is asking me for the password in terms of WEP 128-bit passphrase, WEP 64/168-bit Hex or WEP 64/168-bit ASCII. It also gives me the choice of Open System or Shared key. It won't also connect if I enter a word with the wrong length. I can't understand this lingo. All I know is that my password is ten-letter English phrase which works well when I connect in Windows. Do I need to convert this ten-letter password? If yes, how?

Thanks for your help!

Hello

Just delete gnome keyring and try

Enter the below command in a terminal (applications > accessories > terminal)

rm ~/.gnome2/keyrings/default.keyring

Alternatively,

Navigate to Places > Home. Press ctrl-h for "hidden files". Navigate to .gnome2 > keyrings. Delete default.keyring file.

Regards

I can't delete the file because I can't find it (using terminal and manually searching for it). T_T

If your AP uses a pass-phrase then it may have converted that to a 64bit or 128bit key.

It is usually the key you need to know and not the pass-phrase.
