hi

tell us the output of:

$ lspci
$ ifconfig
$ iwconfig

and more, what kind of wireless card you have? It's built in, an usb or pcmcia card?

Bye

Sorry, but I have to use a different computer for this:

lspci shows a number of devices, but not the wireless controller

ifconfig shows two devices:
eth0 link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:09:6B:E3:98:B1
lo link encap:Local Loopback
         inet addr: 127.0.0.1 mask 255.0.0.0

iwconfig shows no wireless extensions for the following: lo, eth0, wlan0, irda0, sit0

The card is internal. Is there any way to force Ubuntu to scan for my wireless controller?

Is there a hardware disable switch, and if so, what is the position of this switch?

Was this an ipw3945 based wireless device? The output of dmesg might also be helpful if you could post it...

My T61p has a built-in wireless card and was working. I hooked it up to a wired connection, and now the wireless information is missing from System -> Administration -> Network

This is what is in /etc/network/interfaces

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

I've tried restarting the network without the eth0 plugged in.

Here's some output:

lspci | grep Wireless
03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN Network Connection (rev 61)
~$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

What do I need to do to restore wireless?

Can you help with this problem?
