Screen Saver and Monitor Power Down Not Working in 8.04 LTS

Was using Ubuntu 7.10 with ATI proprietary drivers. Everything was working fine.

Upgraded to 8.04 LTS and Screen Saver and Monitor Power Down no longer works. Still using same ATI proprietary driver.

Checked the screen saver and power settings. They are normal, but still not working.

Can anyone help?

Seems that after a few system updates the problem has cured itself.
