After Installing XGL - Extremely Slow Windows, etc.

Asked by Iyeru

After I installed XGL, all of my windows have started going extremely slow, even the menus like Applications, etc. Scrolling web pages also is extremely slow.

Is there any way to speed this up? Or do I have to go back to aiglx?

If so, how do I re-install aiglx?

I have about 512 MB of RAM (I cannot upgrade it due to previous upgrades failing, sorry.) The version of XGL I have is as follows:

xserver-xgl: 1:1.1.99.1~git20080115-0ubuntu1

I would uninstall xserver-xgl, you probably don't need it.

How do I re-install the AIGLX? Or does the xserver-xgl not remove it?

It shouldn't remove anything except the xserver-xgl package.
