having these two errors: E: Type '“deb' is not known on line 56 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list E: Unable to lock the list directory

E: Type '“deb' is not known on line 56 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list
E: Unable to lock the list directory.

I'm new to this Linux stuff and don't rightly know how to address these errors. Help!

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

copy and paste file contents here.

I assume it's the getautomatix.....but I thought that I had removed it.....

Yes is the:

“deb http://www.getautomatix.com/apt feisty main”

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

give your password when requested and change (or remove) the row as below:

# deb http://www.getautomatix.com/apt feisty main

save and exit.

Then type:

sudo apt-get clean all
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
...

That seems to have worked. Thanks! I'm still learning the Terminal entries to be able to edit my apps. This has been a learning experience. Once again thank you.
