Rebooting constantly after fresh install

After doing a fresh install of Ubuntu 6.06 LTS the server keeps rebooting itself in an endless loop. I first tried the LAMP installation, then only the server portion and I still get this constant rebooting. Is there a bug? Can someone help me?

I had the same problem with the Ubuntu 6.06 LTS server CD. I installed instead the desktop and remove/added packages to my gusto for the servers that I run.

Is this a bug with the installation or with certain hardware?

I am not sure, I had the problem with at least 2 different motherboards, and did never manage a working installation with the server CD.

However, I would be surprised if it wouldn't work at all, since then there would be a lot more people reporting a bug I would presume.
