What do you mean by "full graphics" please?

When booting up, I get a prompt stating that "The system is running in
low-graphics mode
Your screen, graphics card, and input device settings could not be detected
correctly. You will need to configure these yourself."
I then click on "OK."
Then another prompt pops up requesting "What would you like to do?:
The choices are:
"Try running with default graphics;
Reconfigure graphics;
Troubleshoot the error;
Exit to console login."
I am not expert enough to choose any option other than the first. When that
happens, the screen opens in "stretched," low resolution mode. When I go
to Display Settings in the Settings Menu, my only options are for the
current display mode or change to 800x600 pixels, neither of which is
really optimal or what I am accustomed to with this machine.
 I am not experienced enough with Ubuntu to make any further adjustments to
the display through the terminal prompt.
Interestingly, when I use the "Advanced options for Ubuntu," then select
"Ubuntu with Linux 3.13.0-95-generic (upstart)" option the display is
"normal" at least that to which I am accustomed, but there is a prompt that
indicates "System program problem detected. Do you want to report the
problem now?" To which, I respond affirmatively.
Next thing that happens is a prompt that says "Sorry, Ubuntu 16.04 has
experienced an internal error.
If you notice further problems, try restarting the computer. (Checkbox with
'Send an error report to help fix this problem." A long list of problems
are noted in the show details tab and I click Continue.
In the Settings>Display Dialog box the "proper" resolution of 1366x768 is
indicated.

I don't know if I gave you too much information or too little but it is
about all I am able to ascertain on my own.
Thank you for your attention,
Walter

Your Terminal output shows the following issue:

Linux walter-Aspire-5732Z 3.13.0-95-generic #142-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug 12 17:05:16 UTC 2016 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

rc libdrm-nouveau1a:i386 2.4.52-1~precise1 i386 Userspace interface to nouveau-specific kernel DRM services -- runtime

==================================================================================================

So you are using Ubuntu 16.04 packages , but with an Ubuntu 12.04 kernel (version 3.13.0-95-generic)

I also saw an Ubuntu 12.04 package in your list of installable packages (libdrm-nouveau1a:i386 2.4.52-1~precise1) , which is not normal at all.

My conclusion is that you attempted an upgrade from Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu 16.04.1 which is still not 100% finished.

You cannot do a direct upgrade from 12.04 to 16.04. Either you do a direct, clean install of Ubuntu 16.04.1 or you upgrade from Ubuntu 12.04 to the next LTS, which Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

The upgrade is not finished, because your kernel version is too low and there are not enough Ubuntu repositories being queried when you perform the sudo apt-get update command.....

So my advice is to FIRST perform a backup of all your data and then test Ubuntu 16.04.1 in a LiveUSB session. If everything works out-of-the-box in the LiveUSB session, perform a clean install of Ubuntu 16.04.1.
