cant get cd out of drive after burning

 i am using 6.06 and after burning a cd or iso image i cant unmount the cd. i have to manually open the cd drive and then reboot.
i have tried more than once to do this but i get the same always.
i would like to to know how to unmount the cd after burning.

CDs do not get mounted for burning, however, the software burning the CD would lock the CD-Drive in order to prevent the burning process disturbed, and the cd being destroyed by pushing the eject button.

Which burning software are you using? I use k3b and it will automatically eject the CD when the burnung process is finished.

I can also look at your burnung software, there should be a menu option or button to eject the CD.

thanks for your quick reply i have just loaded k3b and burnt a data disk
to back up my files .
it did not eject but i got it out easy without a reboot.i cant find a
eject button.
i will try to burn an iso of 6.10 as this has been the main trouble

Could it be that it is a hardware defect? Does the eject button work normally? Can you eject any CD with the eject command ?

i have just backed up my files and the cd ejected with the sound of
bugles and was ok.
i am now downloading 6.10 and will try to burn an iso image to see if i
get the trouble i had before.
i hdid have k3b on the computer and took it out and reloaded it and all
seems to be well

   all is working now i burnt the iso of 6.10 and all is ok.
