Downloading Screenlets.

Asked by NijatXJ07

Could someone explain to me who exactly to use screenlets. I have downloaded the software for it but I dont know how to download other themes or other widgets for that matter. Furthermore, when I have tried to download other widgets (or screenlets I guesss) I never know where to find them.

For example, I downloaded a wallpaper changer but was unable to actually use because I dont know what Im doing or where to even begin.

Please help!

Download a widget from, for example, http://www.screenlets.org/index.php/Category:UserScreenlets or http://www.gnome-look.org/index.php?xcontentmode=6700&PHPSESSID=6b2bd26304210ffc06cfdc857f45367c

Click on the "Places" menu at the top of your screen, and then click on "Home Folder". Press "Ctrl-H" (to show hidden files). Find the directory called ".screenlets". Open it. Extract the file you downloaded here.

Go to the "System" menu, the "Preferences" submenu, and click on "Screenlets". The one you just installed should be in the list now.

Highlight one, click "Launch/Add", right-click on the screenlet that just added and click "Properties". There is a "Themes" tab. That's where installed themes will be (install a similar way).
