cannot boot to live cd :(

i am running xp on a toshiba satellite (a little older, from '03) with a celeron processor and 512 ram, with plenty of hard disk space left...
when i put the cd in, it does see it, but when i restart the machine with the cd in the drive to boot to the live cd, it does not see it and simply goes back to my normal desktop...any ideas?

 sounds like your machine is not set up to boot to the cd drive first make shure you have the boot sequense set up with the cd rom as first to boot
