They're extremely old versions of the kernel and Red Hat. you won't be able to plug these in and use them with Ubuntu. Is this a WinModem?

Dear Mr Andy Ruddock, tank you for answer my question.
My problem is half solved, because I did found a working
driver, and now the modem is alive.
On the other hand, the internet connection does not reach
full speed.
Any help on this ?

How are you measuring your actual speed, and what are measuring against (what makes you think you should get a faster connection)?
Also, how are you measuring this speed?

Dear Mr Ruddock tank you again.
First, yes it is a WinModem.
I am measuring against the download speed from Windows XP,
normal speed is about 5 kb/s --- 6 kb/s , Ubuntu speed is more or less 3 kb/s --- 3.6 kb/s.
I don't know what is the connection speed in Ubuntu because
the dialer doesn't have that feature. (gppp).

I did a sort of blind change, becouse , I read somewere else
for a similar speed problen:
1-type in firefox address window "about:config"
2-foud the entry "Network.dns.disable IPv6=false
3-Double click on the entry, that change =true
I did it, and now the speed is good, and better than windows.
Problem solved.
Tank you.
