usb problum

hi im Manjula from srilanka... i just installed Kubuntu 7.4. I got 2.9 Ghz processor amd OS working very well...with sound and video...but Kubuntu doesnt recognice my USB ports so i cant use any USB devices evan my ADSL USB modem... please help me to correct this ..im very very new to linux,, but till now i like it lot
