xsane crash in ubuntu hardy

i am using a scanner hpf2100 and i am not able to scan any document

hi....i had the same problem with my epson scanner......wasn't recognized by xsane....i did this ---->

For OCR options on scanning try installing Kooka with ocrad or gocr-gtk

In a terminal window (Application menu, Accessories) type

sudo apt-get install kooka ocrad gocr-gtk

the kooka app. works.....doesn't make xsane work tho.
