Hi,

I think this is the driver you need: http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0022415.asp

To install it you'll have to type the following into the terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal):

cd Desktop
wget http://software.canon-europe.com/files/soft22415/software/iP1500Linux.tar.gz
tar xvzf iP1500Linux.tar.gz
cd iP1500
sudo alien --to-deb *.rpm
sudo dpkg -i *.deb

This should work, if not we'll try to work through it.

Cheers,

Matt

Sorry, I forgot about that bit, my bad.

To install alien use "sudo aptitude install alien" in the Terminal.

Just beginning with Ubuntu 6.10
Followed all the steps above and they all worked. My next step was System>Administration>Printing. I got the Printers Window and double clicked New Printer. Step 1 found my Canon iP1500. Step 2 did not show my (I assume ) newly install driver so I chose the Install Driver Button, found the iP1500 folder but inside there is no PPD file which Step 3 requires so my printer is still not recognized. Don't know what to do next. Can anyone help.

Can you help with this problem?
