Mozilla Firefox freezzing on Ubuntu 14.04

Asked by davidzaq1

Hello,

I am having problems with Mozilla Firefox. It is constantly freezing up on me and runs really slow.
I am finding I have to restart the computer every 10 minutes or so.
It really goes bad when I try to run a Youtube video.

I know I can use Chrome but I really like the features of Mozilla.
I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled, but having the same problems. Also disabled plugins.

Is there a way to fix this?

thank you

Try renaming ~/.mozilla (I assume you don't use Thunderbird for email) then relaunch the browser. Is it better after that? You will get a vanilla profile but if it is OK there, then the profile is at fault. If it's the same then the application is having issues

I do not understand what you mean by " renaming ~/.mozilla".

I don't know how to do this?

Thank you

Close all instances of Firefox and run:

mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla_old

Then rerun it. Is it now OK?

Hello,

This worked great!!! Firefox is running fast and has no hang-ups at all.

Thank you
