Hanging right at the start

I am attempting to install 6.10 from a Lice CD to my Maxdata PC. I know the CD works as it instralled on an older machine of mine fine.
I get to the first screen and choose install and after an initial flurry of kernel installing type activity I just get a flashing cursor. I have left this for some time to no avail.
Can someone help?

Do you get any error messages before the flashing cursor? I would recommend trying to install from the alternate CD...
